So far I've only staged the homes that we've purchased and sold. Both were on the market for under a month, so I feel I have a pretty good track record. My goal is to stage homes for others so they can get them sold too. In this economy, with the housing market in a slump, you have to set yourself apart from the competition.
A couple of "free" tips to spruce up your space for sale. Edit Edit Edit. Less IS more.
Clear off all of your surfaces and put back 3 or less of your favorite things.
NOT three collections, three things. No one wants to see your spoon collection or shot glass collection.
Pack up the family photo's. People need to envision the house as THEIR home. It's hard to do with someone's family (not theirs) staring back at them from every wall, mantle, dresser etc.
You want to move right? So take the family photo's with you.
Paint is CHEAP. Freshly painted walls make a huge difference in how your home looks. I can help you with color selection. Beige isn't always best. Trust me on this. The right color can make your decor POP! Artwork will literally change before your eyes on a new wall color.
Clean, clean, clean.. like your Mother in Law is coming to visit. Windows should be clean, dust bunnies banished, cobwebs wiped away and every surface from floor boards to light fixtures should be spotless. No one wants to walk into a dirty house. It needs to look like it's EASY to keep clean.
Every home needs a bit of black. Much like a woman accents her eyelashes with black mascara, your house needs a bit of black accent as well.
Your front door... The first thing people see. Make sure it's clean, in good repair and painted a beautiful color. I'll tell you the best colors....

Use a stager, SELL a HOUSE
This isn't the color I'm painting the door on this flip house, but I can't wait to use the combination somewhere.. Gray, White and Yellow.
Yellow is a color that evokes mental clarity, perception, understanding,
wisdom, confidence, curiosity, humor and merriment.
In Feng Shui, a red door symbolizes the mouth of the home. It is the entry point in which abundance and opportunities find us. It means quiet simply, Welcome.
